STUDENT PRINT MANAGEMENT

May 4, 2015 - A Request for Proposals has been distributed to replace all student printing, scanning and copying equipment and to implement an enhanced print management software system. We've had very positive response from 9 out of 9 vendors who will be visiting our campus, talking with IT Department staff and preparing their best proposals to best meet the needs of the TUC Student Body. Next step: collect proposals, identify the top contenders and begin the negotiations. Let us know your thoughts through your representative to the TUC Tech Team, by dropping in and chatting with IT Department Staff or sending comments to julia.welch@tu.edu. Target equipment delivery date:  June 15, 2015.

LIBRARY CONNECTIVITY

April 21, 2015 - Project Complete! A week ahead of schedule and within budget, the fiber optic link between the Library Building and Lander Hall is complete. This completes a multi-effort to create a fiber backbone connecting all campus buildings. Desktop and wireless connectivity in offices and in the Library Computer Lab will be improved in the Library and in the Library Annex. Those viewing MediaSite recordings in the Library will consistently see a full set of features now that high speed connectivity is available.

April 16, 2015 -All the trenching and cable pulling was completed successfully last week. On Tuesday, April 14, all wireless network and computer lab traffic was moved over to the new fiber optic link. If you're a student in the Library Building and using a laptop, or a computer lab workstation, you should see a marked improvement while on the Internet or viewing MediaSite recordings. Next up - faculty and staff offices will be moved over to the fiber link. Expected project completion date: May 1, 2015.

April 7, 2015 - Work on the fiber optic link between the Library Building and Lander Hall continues. Construction is expected to be completed by mid-April, with testing to follow. Watch for announcements about the cut-over schedule. Once the installation is fully complete, increased speed in Internet and Mediasite viewing from the Library will be the norm. Expected project completion date: May 1, 2015.
